Desperate Living - A novel

By Ty Spencer Vossler

Desperate Living is a gritty, celebratory, cautionary tale of American life, in the mythical town of Potterville. It’s everyone’s tug-a-war in Anytown, America where we live, dream and try to make sense of our lives with the understanding that--
Life is just an endless flight to make it through the Yellow Light!

Each character represents an American staple; gullibility, self indulgence, confusion, faith, hope, and desperation.

The first third of Desperate Living welcomes readers into the dysfunctional living rooms of three average American families, (not the Cleavers).

The final two thirds of Desperate Living concerns Obert Zielenski, (Oz), a California high school English teacher, a divorced, despised father of two. Obert uses a one-year sabbatical to write a dreadful novel, “Journal of Desperate Living”. After many well-deserved rejections, he self-publishes.

Desperate Living pushes buttons. It is irreverent, sexy, philosophical, and extremely thought provoking. There are numerous references to “The Wizard of Oz”, used to illustrate the books main idea.
